How many years of school to be a nurse?

The number of years of schooling to become a registered nurse (RN) varies depending on the educational path chosen:

* Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN): This is typically a 2-year program.

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): This is typically a 4-year program. This is becoming increasingly the preferred entry-level degree.

* Diploma in Nursing: These programs are becoming less common, but they typically take around 3 years to complete.

After graduation from any of these programs, you'll need to pass the NCLEX-RN exam to become a licensed registered nurse.
