In addition to these courses, you will also need to complete clinical internships and fieldwork experiences in order to gain hands-on experience working with clients.
After completing your undergraduate degree, you will need to apply to and be accepted into an accredited occupational therapy program. These programs typically last two years and include coursework and clinical experiences.
Once you have completed an accredited occupational therapy program, you will be eligible to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam. Passing this exam is required in order to practice occupational therapy in the United States.
