How to Fill Out an Application for Penn State

Penn State is one of the storied universities in academia. The college offers students a wide variety of educational programs as well as a great deal of social activities, such as Penn State football games and ice cream at the Penn State Creamery. The alumni association is large and active, and many high school seniors dream of someday joining their ranks. The Penn State application process is available over the Internet on the college's website.

      Navigate to the Penn State Undergraduate Admissions website.

      Create a "MyPennState Account." This account allows you to apply to Penn State through their website. You'll need to include the following information to create an account: your full name, gender, date of birth, full address, email address, and a password of your choosing.

      Select the "Apply Online" link. Once you are logged into your "MyPennState" account you can fill out the application for admission to Penn State University. You'll need to indicate the following information: your complete name, complete address, Social Security number, date of birth, phone number(s), gender, email address, citizenship status, whether you are a Pennsylvania resident, ethnic background information, whether you are related to any Penn State alumni, prior educational information, whether you are now or were once in the military, and campus choice preferences.

      Print the "Counselor Form." As part of the application, you must have a high school counselor complete this form and mail it directly to the Penn State Office of Undergraduate Admissions with your high school transcripts.

      Contact ACT or the CollegeBoard directly to have your college entrance exam scores sent to Penn State. ACT maintains your records from the ACT, and the CollegeBoard maintains your records for the SAT.

      Complete the "Activities" section of the online application, if you choose. You are permitted to submit any information regarding activities, clubs, or groups in which you were involved during high school. You may also submit information regarding employment during high school, and any additional hobbies or activities that you enjoy.

      Complete a "Personal Statement." You may submit a personal statement that does not exceed 1,200 characters regarding an experience in your life that has affected you, how it has affected you, and how it ties to a college career at Penn State.

      Enter your payment information and submit the application. You must submit an application fee of $50 (as of 2010) when you complete your application. Once you have entered your billing information you can complete and submit your application.
