Some programs don't admit a student immediately into the joint program, but require sufficient undergraduate performance before a candidate may apply. This is common of more reputable universities, such as the University of Chicago and Northwestern. Other programs admit students directly based on the application materials.
Look over important details regarding the program beyond the degree itself. These include the total number of courses required, the possibility of internships and independent studies as well as a thesis or degree exam requirement. Tuition costs, full-time/part-time status and average program duration are other important issues to consider. Also, notice where the school is located. The Loop, a city neighborhood such as Lincoln Park or a suburb like Evanston all have different atmospheres that will affect your experience.
