Get your GED certificate from the institution that administered your GED. You might need to provide your Social Security Number and date of birth or first and last name, followed by your date of birth. Some institutions allow students to order a copy of their GED certificate online by submitting an online form. Include either the original or a copy of your GED certificate with your college application.
Get transcripts from the program that home schooled you. If your parents conducted your home school, you might want to ask them to purchase a program that creates home school transcripts, as most traditional high schools have transcript programs integrated within the school course registration system. Print an official copy if you are creating the transcripts yourself. Do not hand write them on paper. The more official your transcripts are, the better your chances of being admitted to the college of your choice.
Get course descriptions from your home school, and include a copy with your application. The course descriptions will lend validity to your transcripts by detailing the tasks and skills mastered in each course as well as the courses required as pre-requisites for other courses. Type each course description clearly and include the number of credits earned for each course.
Provide a copy of your high school diploma with your application. Typically, home school diplomas are recognized if they are accompanied by transcripts demonstrating mastery of state (or local school district) requirements for graduation. Every school and school district has slightly different requirements for graduation, so the diploma itself isn't as important as the supplementary documentation showing that you completed all the requirements necessary to earn the diploma.
