Convert the numbers in the equation into numbers that fit on the scale of the watch. The maximum calculable number on the watch varies between Pulsar watches. The easiest way to convert a number is to multiply or divide by a multiple of 10, meaning you simply have to move the decimal left or right. For example, a number of 60 could be calculated on a watch face that only goes to 10 by first dividing 60 by 10, to make it 6.
Align the outer movable dial of the watch. For a multiplication, one of the numbers must by aligned over the line marked "1" on the inner dial. For a division equation, align the number being divided over the number, which it is being divided by. For example, to multiply 6 by 2, the outer 6 would be aligned over the inner 1, however to divide 6 by 2, the outer 6 will be aligned over the inner 2.
Locate the corresponding number on the inner dial. For a multiplication, locate the number being multiplied not aligned over the 1 on the inner dial. In the example, you would find the 2 on the inner dial. For a division, locate the 1 on the inner dial.
Read the result on the outer dial. The result for a multiplication or a division problem is the number on the outer dial aligned with the inner number found in Step 3.
Convert your result back into the original scale of the problem. If a number being multiplied was altered in Step 1, convert the result of Step 4 by performing the opposite calculation on the result. For example, the 60 was converted into 6 by dividing by 10, so it will be converted to the final result by multiplying the result of Step 4 by 10. For division problems, any changes to the number being divided are converted by performing the opposite calculation, like a multiplied number. To convert changes to the number being divided by, however, the result of Step 4 must undergo the same calculation as in Step 1. For example, if a number of 20 was converted to 2 by dividing by 10, then used to divide another number, your result from Step 4 will also have to be divided by 10 to find the final answer. If both numbers were converted, convert the result for one number, then convert the resulting number of that equation for the second number.
