Schools for Aeronautics Engineering

Aeronautical engineers, also referred to as aerospace engineers, are specialists in designing, testing and supervising aircraft manufacturing. These engineers may have a specialty area in commercial, military, helicopter or space aircraft and sub-specialties in such areas as acoustics or controls. In 2008, aerospace engineers earned a median annual salary of $92,520, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  1. Arizona State University

    • The School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy at Arizona State University offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in aerospace engineering. Students may elect for a focus in aeronautics with courses including aerodynamics, aerospace design, propulsion and aircraft control. Students pursuing the master's degree in aerospace engineering may choose a curriculum with a research-thesis track or a professional focus. The master's program nabbed the No. 24 ranking in the "U.S. News & World Report" list of the nation's top 50 aerospace and aeronautical engineering graduate schools. Students without a master's degree may pursue the research and writing focused Ph.D. in aerospace engineering following completion of 30 credit hours of graduate coursework.
