The College of Allied Health Professionals at the University of South Alabama offers a six-year physical therapy program which results in the student earning a doctorate. To enroll in the program, a student must be considered an "advanced undergraduate" applicant to the school. This means that prior to being accepted to the program, the student must have completed 96 semester hours of specific prerequisites. These prerequisites can be obtained in three years before entering the 32-month doctorate program.

Duquense University also offers a six-year doctorate in physical therapy for incoming freshman. It boasts a 99 percent first-time pass rate on the physical therapy boards. Students entering the six-year doctorate program will graduate with Bachelor of Science Degrees in biology and health sciences as well as a doctorate in physical therapy.

Located in Rochester, New York, Nazareth College also offers a six-year doctorate program in physical therapy. Students entering the track experience three years of a pre-professional program that focuses on chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics and psychology. That study is followed by three professional years that include clinical education experience with licensed professionals in practical settings. Students graduating from this program will receive a bachelor's degree in health science along with the doctorate in physical therapy.
