There have been many recalls recently due to unsafe products in the global market. Both consumers and businesses suffer from such mishaps; the former because of harm to their health, the latter because of damage to their reputation. A term paper can examine who is to blame and ultimately responsible for such incidents and how to avoid and rectify them.
Since the objective of Business Ethics is to create socially and morally responsible citizens in the corporate world, it would be interesting to analyze how such education would influence and change business practices. One could study what kind of effects it would have on professional behavior and decision-making.
Business Ethics also investigates issues of human rights. Since many corporations operate in foreign countries, human rights may not be enforced there, leading to the possibility of exploitation and discrimination of workers. To what extent can and should a business be responsible to guarantee and uphold human rights, and who should have the authority to oversee such matters?
With the current harmful effects of climate change and varying international attitudes toward global warming, it would be interesting to discuss the environmental performance and responsibility of businesses. If governments downplay or disregard environmental issues, should one expect a business to take environmental factors into consideration? What role would shareholders and stakeholders play in these decisions?
