YVCC does not currently offer a degree program specifically designed for transfer students who wish to major in Child Psychology, but the college does offer the Associate of Arts degree in both Early Childhood Education and Psychology. Depending on exactly what kind of career you are pursuing, either of these options could be a good place to begin your studies. Before you choose your degree path you should find out what credits are likely to transfer to a four-year college.
You will probably be receiving a transfer degree from YVCC. This simply means that when you graduate you will be awarded a degree that is the equivalent of two years of college-level coursework. Before you decide what classes to take you will need to find out which credits will transfer from YVCC toward your degree at a four-year institution. Regardless of your degree choice, most of your coursework at YVCC will be comparable to the general education requirements of a four-year college. This includes a focus on humanities, natural sciences, social science, communications and quantitative skills. Most Washington colleges and universities honor the state's Direct Transfer Agreement with junior standing, which means that YVCC's general education requirements should be sufficient coursework to enter into other institutions of higher learning with no additional credits necessary.
