Keep your grades up. SAT and ACT scores are only one part of the college acceptance equation. If you keep your class grades up, you may be able to prove to acceptance committees that, while you faltered on the test, you are still a quality candidate.
Harness the power of the admissions essay. Some colleges consider the admissions essay heavily in their decision making process. To ensure that this portion of your application proves as solid as can be, carefully craft your essay. A well-written essay may make up for your lacking scores.
Network. If you know someone, or know someone who knows someone, with an affiliation to the school to which you are seeking acceptance, take advantage of this contact, speaking to the individual about your desire to attend that institution and asking him to put in a good word for you.
Start with a community college. Though ideally you may want to head off to your dream school the fall after you graduate, doing so may not be a possibility if your test scores are lacking. By taking some time and attending a community college, you can prove your desirability as an enrollment candidate. Earn high marks and you can prove yourself, despite your low test scores.
Retake the test. If your test scores were exceptionally low, retaking the test in question may be the only way to get into the school of your dreams. If you have to retake your test to get into this school, study up before you do so to increase your chances of raising your scores.
