How to Find the Math Rule of a T-Chart Calculator

In Algebra classes, you often will have to find the equation corresponding to a group of points. A calculator can solve you a great deal of time. After entering your points into a T-chart, in which your x-values are on one side of the chart and your y-values are on the other side, you may use your calculator to identify the line, or the mathematical rule, associated with the points.

Instructions

  Hit "graph," to view the coordinate points of your T-chart, visually displayed on the x and y axes.

  Access the calculate function, or the equivalent function of your calculator, that allows you to fit a best-fit curve to your data points. You will be able to view the mathematical rule in the Y= section of your calculator.

  Hit "graph" again, to judge how well your calculator's approximated mathematical rule confirms to your data points.
