A Bachelor of Science degree is one type of degree an institution may offer. Many academic institutions also offer Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree programs to students who successfully complete years of in-depth course work. The Bachelor of Science degree does not necessarily refer to a broad study of science related coursework. Students studying for a Bachelor of Science specialize in specific fields including computers, information technology, business, engineering and biology. The Bachelor of Science degree is often abbreviated as "BS" and people holding the degree will commonly say that they hold a BS in a specific subject.
A Bachelor of Business Administration is a specialized field of study, or subject, for people interested in careers involved in the management and operation of business. It is a broadly defined subject area, but can prepare a student to manage other people's work, use important business technologies and adapt to a changing business environment. A BS in Business Administration will have required coursework and evaluation standards to successfully complete the degree. A Business Administration degree may also be available from an academic institution at levels other then a Bachelor of Science.
To successfully complete a degree program and earn a diploma, specific requirements must be met. Although a Bachelor of Science degree may also be a Bachelor of Business Administration, they may have separate requirements for completion. The Bachelor of Science degree often has a curriculum including coursework in both the sciences and humanities. However, the subject coursework for a Bachelor of Business Administration will be more specialized.
Although a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration may be the most common degree offered, there are other equivalent degrees with different names. An academic institution may offer a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), which are essentially the same as a BS or BA in Business Administration.
