Make sure you fill out the FAFSA by the deadline. This is the easiest way to get more money without getting a loan. The earlier you apply, the more money you can get.
Get all of your AP test scores transferred over to your college. This will save you a lot of money as well as time.
Look in the paper, online and through the school for any additional scholarships/grants that are available to you. A little effort can go a long way.
Some students are lucky and their parents will pay for their tuition, but for some of you it's not that easy. Ask your parents if they will meet you half way. They might be relieved that you are not asking for the entire tuition and agree without argument.
Look for a job around campus. If you can get a work study program, that would be ideal. You would be paying off some of your tuition while making the same amount of money for yourself. Other jobs may offer to help pay for tuition. These are the best jobs. Summer jobs are also a good idea.
Become a Resident Adviser. You get free housing. This leaves more money to pay for your tuition.
Recognize that you need to keep your expenses low. Create a budget and stick to it. You will be saving a lot more money if you don't overspend.
Check Bulletins. The bulletins around campus allow for postings of all kind. Every once in a while you might find some that will offer money for students to help move things, research, conduct studies and other odd jobs. If you can fit them in and feel like you can do them, go for it.
Watch for opportunities all around you. Scholarships, grants, jobs and other ways to help you pay for college are always popping up. You just need to be aware of them.
