Make a copy of your signature page in your loan documents, and write the words "Cancel" near your signature. Mail the cancelled signature page to Sallie Mae to further demonstrate that you're cancelling the student loan. Refrain from cashing or depositing your student loan payment. Notify your school's financial department that you are canceling your student loan, and instruct them to return the funds.

Cancel a Sallie Mae student loan due to disability. Go to a physician and have them certify that you suffer from a disability that will impede your ability to work. This same physician must explain this in writing on the required U.S. Department of Education discharge form.
