What awards did Herman Melville receive?

Herman Melville didn't receive any significant literary awards during his lifetime. The concept of major literary prizes as we know them today hadn't fully developed. His works were critically acclaimed by some, but he wasn't widely popular, and his later years were marked by financial struggle.
