What was the educational background of Edgar Allan Poe?

Edgar Allan Poe did not have a traditional education. He attended several private schools in Richmond, Virginia, and attended the University of Virginia for one semester in 1826, but he did not graduate. After leaving the university, Poe worked as a clerk for the Richmond Enquirer and joined the United States Army as a private.
