Why did guglielmo marconi win an Nobel Peace Prize?

Guglielmo Marconi did not win a Nobel Peace Prize. He was awarded Nobel Prize in Physics in 1909 along with Karl Braun "in recognition of their contributions to the development of wireless telegraphy."
