What is a Melvin Jones Award?
The Melvin Jones Fellow (MJF) is the highest form of recognition that can be bestowed upon an individual Lion. Initiated in 1973, this award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding dedication to the fundamental ideals and principles of Lionism. The recipients of this award have achieved exceptional accomplishments and have displayed dedicated humanitarian efforts in their communities and beyond. The MJF is granted in honor of Melvin Jones, the founder and secretary-general of Lions Clubs International, who exemplified the ideals of service and leadership throughout his life. This prestigious award represents the highest level of recognition for exemplifying the spirit of Lionism and making significant contributions to the Lions' global humanitarian mission.
