Does a book absorb or reflect light?

A book primarily absorbs light.

When light strikes the surface of a book, some of it is reflected and some of it is absorbed. The amount of light absorbed depends on the color of the book. Darker colors, such as black, absorb more light than lighter colors, such as white.

The light that is not absorbed is reflected back to our eyes, allowing us to see the book. However, since some of the light is absorbed, the book appears darker than the light source.
