Byron poem based on mutiny the bounty?

The Bounty's Curse

On seas of azure, where the sun doth gleam,

A ship of destiny, the Bounty, sailed,

With Bligh, the captain, stern and unrelenting,

And Fletcher Christian, brave and unassailed.

From England's shores, to Tahiti's isle they went,

To gather breadfruit, a royal decree,

But in those Edenic lands, their souls were rent,

By whispers of rebellion, wild and free.

The tropic nights, with moonlit skies so bright,

Aroused desires, that could not be contained,

The Bounty's crew, in paradise's light,

Their loyalty to Bligh, began to wane.

With every lash, with every harsh command,

The seeds of mutiny, they grew apace,

In Christian's heart, a fire, fierce and grand,

He sought a life, beyond this tyrant's grace.

And then the day, the fateful hour arrived,

When mutiny arose, a tempestuous storm,

Bligh, the captain, cruelly deprived,

His ship, his power, his future, now forlorn.

With eighteen men, in a small boat they fled,

Across the vast Pacific, a perilous plight,

While Christian steered the Bounty, onward sped,

To find a haven, in the island's light.

But fate's cruel hand, did twist the thread of life,

The Bounty's fate, a tragic, mournful tale,

In Pitcairn's isle, where peace and love were rife,

The mutineers, their guilt, they could not veil.

Thus, on the seas, the Bounty's curse did dwell,

A tale of mutiny, of passion, and of strife,

A legend whispered, in the ocean's shell,

A haunting echo, in the breath of life.
