A poem in which a character speaks directly to one or more listeners?

Gather 'round, you weary souls,

With tired eyes and weary goals.

Listen close, and I will tell

A story you might know so well.

Of dreams that fade, and hopes that die,

Of shadows cast in every eye.

Of laughter choked, and tears that fall,

A hollow echo in the hall.

But hear me now, I say to you,

Though darkness shrouds and skies are blue,

A spark remains, a flicker bright,

A beacon guiding through the night.

Don't let the darkness steal your fire,

Let courage rise, let spirits tire.

For in the depths, a strength you'll find,

A resilience you will bind.

So hold your head, and face the storm,

With hope renewed, and spirit warm.

The dawn will break, and light will shine,

And darkness yield to the divine.
