Can Huckleberry Finn read or write?

Huckleberry Finn can read and write. While he does not have formal education, he has had the opportunity to learn from Jim and, to a lesser extent, his father Pap Finn. His ability to read and write enables him to keep a journal and to communicate with Jim.
