Who is Homer in The Odyssey?

The author of "The Odyssey" is traditionally attributed to Homer, an ancient Greek poet who is also believed to have authored "The Iliad." Homer is described as an oral poet from ancient Greece believed to have lived sometime between the twelfth and eighth centuries BC. However, many of the traditional elements in Homeric scholarship have been re-evaluated as modern critical thinking methods have shed light on the Homeric poems, their compositions, authorship, and transmission by ancient bards who recited his epic poems across the ancient Greek-speaking world during the 6th–3rd centuries BC.
