Why does the duke and king impersonate relatives of Peter Wilks?

In the novel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain, the duke and the king do not impersonate relatives of Peter Wilks. Instead, they impersonate the brothers of the recently deceased Peter Wilks, who was actually their former business partner.
