What subject in school did C. S. Lewis dislike?

C. S. Lewis disliked mathematics.

He wrote about his dislike of math in his autobiography, "Surprised by Joy":

> "I hated mathematics... It seemed to me a subject in which good sense was permanently set at naught by a pack of meaningless symbols."

He also said he found math "cold and unfeeling," contrasting it with the beauty he found in literature and language.
