What is the nursery rhyme about mother hubbard?

Old Mother Hubbard

Old Mother Hubbard

Went to the cupboard

To get her poor dog a bone

When she got there

The cupboard was bare

And so the poor dog had none.

She went to the butcher

To get him some meat

But the butcher said, "No, ma'am

I don't have a bone to spare."

She went to the baker

To buy her dog a loaf of bread

But the baker said, "No, ma'am

Not without any money"

She went to the farmer's wife

And cried, "Oh give me a bone

For my poor starving dog."

But the farmer's wife said, "Be gone

I haven't got any bones."

Then old Mother Hubbard

Had to go back home

Her poor dog had no bone

But, when she got home

Her dog was licking his chops

So old Mother Hubbard

Went out to the shops.

She went to the greengrocer

And she brought back a carrot

For her dog to chew on

He liked it so much

That he wagged his tail

and they all lived happily ever after.
