When was writing added to the SAT?

The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) was originally known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test when it was first introduced in 1926. It originally consisted of three parts: Verbal, Mathematical, and Writing. However, the Writing section was removed from the SAT in 1994.
