What is the purpose of SAT test?

The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. It is designed to measure the critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills that are necessary for success in college-level academic work. The SAT consists of three sections: Reading, Writing and Language, and Math. The score range for each section is 200-800 points, with a total possible score of 1600 points for the entire test. Colleges and universities use SAT scores as one of several factors in their admissions decisions, alongside high school GPA, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and personal statements.
