Students must receive a score of 1926 (scale score of 300) or above on the Sunshine State Standards reading portion of the FCAT.

Seniors who have been unable to meet the score requirements may be able to substitute a combination of scores using the SAT or ACT for the FCAT scores.
Students have five opportunities to take the FCAT: once their sophomore year and two times in both their junior and senior years. Two more opportunities are available for students in an optional 13th year if they are unable to pass the test during the typical education schedule.
According to Sections 1003.43(11)(b) or 1003.428(8)(b) of the Florida Statutes, students with disabilities who have an individualized education plan (IEP) can request a waiver allowing them to graduate from high school without taking the FCAT.
