The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) measures your ability to analyze and evaluate written material, and to present your ideas clearly and effectively in writing. The AWA consists of two 30-minute essays:

* Analysis of an Argument: You will be given a short argument and asked to analyze and evaluate it.

* Analysis of an Issue: You will be given a topic and asked to write an essay about it, taking a position and supporting it with evidence.

Integrated Reasoning

The Integrated Reasoning (IR) section measures your ability to analyze and evaluate information presented in multiple formats, including text, graphics, and charts. The IR section consists of 12 multiple-choice questions that are presented in four sets. Each set of questions is based on a different scenario and contains three or four questions that are related to each other.

Quantitative Reasoning

The Quantitative Reasoning (QR) section measures your ability to solve problems involving numbers, data, and quantitative concepts. The QR section consists of 31 multiple-choice questions that are presented in three sets. Each set of questions is based on a different topic and contains 11 or 12 questions that are related to each other.

Verbal Reasoning

The Verbal Reasoning (VR) section measures your ability to read and comprehend complex texts, and to analyze and evaluate arguments. The VR section consists of 36 multiple-choice questions that are presented in three sets. Each set of questions is based on a different passage and contains 12 questions that are related to the passage.

Experimental Section

The experimental section is a 12 to 13 question section that does not count towards your score but is used by the GMAC to test new questions. Some of these might get selected from various sections such as RC, SC Or CR sections or a completely different section.
