What is identification type of test?

An identification type of test, also known as a recognition test, requires the test-taker to identify or recognize the correct answer from a set of given options. It doesn't require the test-taker to generate the answer themselves. This contrasts with recall tests, where the individual needs to retrieve the information from memory without any prompts or options.

Examples of identification test types include:

* Multiple choice questions: The most common example, where the test-taker selects the correct answer from a list.

* True/false questions: The test-taker indicates whether a statement is true or false.

* Matching questions: The test-taker matches items from one list to corresponding items in another list.

* Picture identification: Identifying a correct picture or image from a selection.

The key feature is that the correct answer is *presented* to the test-taker; they simply need to select it. This makes identification tests generally easier than recall tests, as they provide cues and reduce the cognitive load.
