Every year, members of the United States Congress have the opportunity to nominate candidates to attend one of the five U.S. service academies:
- United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York
- United States Naval Academy (USNA) at Annapolis, Maryland
- United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) at Colorado Springs, Colorado
- United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) at New London, Connecticut
- United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, New York
Requirements for Congressional Nominations
To be eligible for a congressional nomination, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be at least 17 years old and not have reached their 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year they are entering the academy
- Be unmarried and have no dependents
