This learning game is designed for young children who are first learning the alphabet. Print out a sheet of paper with all of the letters in the alphabet on it. From here, print out another copy of the letters and paste each letter onto a blank card. Turn the cards upside down, asking your child to mark down the corresponding letter each time you turn a card over. Continue to play until all the cards are flipped over.
Math match is an online learning game that allows you to focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. There are three levels of difficulty, which allow your child room to improve with respect to the game. The game starts with four, eight or 12 cards flipped facedown. Click on a card to see either a number or a basic math problem. Match cards by remembering which cards correspond to other cards. For example, you may turn over a card that reads "5+3" and a card that reads "8." Because these two cards are of the same value, turn them both over to score a point. Continue to play in this way until all the cards are turned.
This game is designed to help your child imitate the sounds needed to form words. Print out sheets of paper containing beginning consonants, ending consonants, beginning short vowels and middle short vowels. Start with the beginning consonants, having your child repeat each consonant you say. According to the Kid Zone website, it is important to take frequent breaks with your child, preventing him from getting frustrated and allowing him to solve his own problems. As he improves, begin to combine the beginning and end consonants as well as the middle vowels.
Analogy games are fun learning games that your child can play to improve her ability to make connections between words and actions. At the Vocabulary website, there is an elementary analogy game that offers up a series of basic analogies, depending on your child's grade level. For example, your child will be asked what is analogous to the phrase "long is to short." There will be several answers, and your child must pick the correct one.
