How to Do a Presentation on the Program Administration Scales

The Program Administration Scale is a method in which teachers can determine the level of educational development, progress, and success. This method was developed by the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership. The sections that compose the Program Administration Scale has categories such as human resources development, personnel cost and allocation, center operations, child assessment, fiscal management, program planning and evaluation, family partnerships, marketing and public relations, technology, and staff qualification. In order to do a presentation on the Program Administration Scale, create an outline, discuss each section, practice speaking clearly, and answer questions.

Create an outline of the information that you desire to put in your presentation. You may decide that you want to put an overview of the Program Administration Scales, and a description of each assessment area within the presentation. Each of these sections will have a separate slide.

    • 2

State the purpose of the Program Administration Scale. In the introduction slide, you may state how the Program Administration Scale is used to evaluate the success of early childhood education, and that the ten areas of this scale determine the overall progress of the education system. In the following slide, you may list each of the areas of the Program Administration Scale.

Discuss each area. The human-resources development consists of the way in which the staff is properly educated, and that there is communication. Personal cost and allocation refers to how the administration is compensated based on experience levels and that there is documentation of this. The center operations are how well organized the learning environment is, and that the teachers have regular meetings. Child assessment means that with parent permission, the children are screened. Fiscal management consists of the records kept regarding expenses. Program planning and evaluation consists of the educators and parents reviewing the system. Family partnerships refers to the families having orientations to the program. Marketing and public relations consist of brochures and other advertisements. The technology in the facility should be updated and in working condition. The staff qualification is how experienced and highly educated the staff is.

Practice how you will talk about each slide. When you give the presentation, you should speak clearly and not too fast.

    • 5

Answer questions about the presentation. When you are finished presenting all of the slides, ask the audience if they have any questions. There are many areas of assessment for the Program Administration Scale, and audience members may need to ask questions about them in order to understand them more clearly.
