Curious George Art Projects for Preschool

Curious George art projects capture the sweetness and innocence that this little monkey displays in cartoons and books. Use the books as your inspiration and read to the kids before working on projects. Choose crafts that are simple for preschool-age children to complete. Some younger children may need help with cutting or writing.
  1. Book Tracing

    • Make copies from pages of a Curious George book. Give the kids different pictures and tissue paper along with a pencil. Show them how to trace George and other characters in the book. Then give them colored pencils or crayons to color in their tracings. The kids can then glue or tape their traced drawing on construction paper to create a contrasting background.

Curious George Toilet Paper Roll Craft

    • Give each of the kids in the class a toilet paper roll and brown construction paper. Glue the brown paper around the roll and help them draw and cut out arms, legs and a monkey face. You can use templates to make this craft easier. (See references to print out template.) Use yellow construction paper to make a hat. Glue or tape the arms and legs of the monkey on the covered toilet paper roll and glue the head on the top, followed by the hat.

    Curious George Collage

    • Give the kids poster board paper and markers, and help them make a Curious George collage. Help them draw the monkey along with his friends on the paper and include other items that George might look for in one of his books, such as a fire hat, straw hat or other toys.

    Little Monkey's Favorite Things

    • After reading Curious George stories, the kids might get a good idea about what the little monkey's favorite things are. Ask the kids to paint objects that George loves -- like bananas, yellow hats, fire trucks and other toys. They can also simply paint a scene from the book if they like.
