How old to attend public schools?

In the United States, the age requirements for attending public schools vary from state to state. Generally, children must be between the ages of 6 and 18 to attend public school. Some states allow children to start kindergarten as early as age 5, while others require children to be 6 years old by September 1st. Most states also have a maximum age for attending public school, which is typically 18 years old. However, some states allow students to attend public school beyond the age of 18 if they have not yet completed their high school education.
