Write down all the years of the child's life, from the year she was born to the present year. Next to each year write three important events in the child's life. For example, she was born in 1999, her sister was born in 2002 and she began school in 2005.
Gather pictures of the different events. If you don't have pictures of an event, then use a picture that relates it. For example, if he said "mama" for the first time in 2000 and you do not have a photo, use a photo of him taken that year.
Open your scrapbook and draw a line one inch above the bottom of the paper from left to right. Evenly divide the line into 12 sections to represent the 12 months of the year.
Put the year at the top of the page. Then add the three dates you chose to the bottom of the paper. If your child was born in January, write the date in the first section at the bottom of the paper. If he took his first step in September, write the date in the ninth section.
Make a vertical line from the event dates toward the top of the paper ending with enough room to add pictures of the events. Cut and glue the photos on the page.
Write down the importance of the date along the line. For example, "Susie was born Jan. 22." Or "Johnny rode his bike for the first time May 5."
Repeat Steps 3 through 6 until all the events have been mapped.
Draw a line across the middle of the poster board.
Separate the line into sections representing the age of the child. If your child is 7 you should have seven 1-inch vertical lines breaking up the horizontal line.
Write the year on each line, then extend them to staggered lengths ending with a photo corresponding to the year. For example, the first line should be the year the child was born. Write "1999" on the line and end the line with a picture of her as a newborn.
