Factors That Contribute to School Success

Several factors contribute to the success of students. One is parents' involvement in the education of their children, especially when it sets an example for their kids. Parents who help with homework or attend parent-teacher conferences show that they care about academic success. Community involvement is also a big plus for student success. For example, many churches, service clubs or senior volunteers offer mentoring or tutoring that contribute to the educational well-being of the community's children.
  1. Discipline

    • Students who discipline themselves do well in school. Students who struggle with algebra and seek tutoring weeks before a math exam are developing the self-discipline it takes to pass the exam. Likewise, those who stay after school for extra help in a Spanish class get it show are showing the discipline they need to succeed in the subject.

    Teacher's Encouragement

    • Teachers who push their students to challenge their minds are giving them the confidence they need to succeed. For example, teachers who recognize students' talent for speaking in front of the class can encourage them to look into journalism, politics or law as careers.

    School Resources

    • A school that has the educational resources for its students to excel will reap the benefits of their success. Computers in the classroom, updated and relevant textbooks and audio-visual equipment, like overhead projectors, contribute to students doing their best.
