How much education is needed to become a food inspector?
Food inspectors typically need a bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field. Some positions may only require an associate’s degree, while others may prefer a master’s degree. In addition to education, food inspectors must have experience in food safety and inspection. This experience can be gained through internships, co-ops, or volunteer work with a food safety agency or a food safety-related organization.
