What are the national developmental goals of Department Education?

National Developmental Goals of the Department of Education:

In keeping with the country’s development goals and the mandates stated in its organic charter (Republic Act 7722), the Department of Education (DepEd) focuses its efforts on the following priority outcomes:

1. Access – all Filipinos, regardless of status in life, will have access to quality basic education

2. Quality – all graduates of basic education will be functionally literate and numerate, and will have the skills required for lifelong learning and employment.

3. Values – all graduates of basic education will be imbued with good values, such as honesty, integrity, and a sense of social justice.

4. Governance – the education sector will be managed effectively and efficiently, with full transparency and accountability.

To achieve these goals, DepEd has identified the following key result areas (KRAs) and specific targets for 2022:

A. Access

* Increase the net enrolment rate (NER) in kindergarten from 86.6% to 90%

* Increase the completion rate (CR) in elementary education from 85.4% to 90%.

* Increase the CR in secondary education from 79.7% to 85%

* Increase the participation rate (PR) in pre-school education from 72.6% to 80%.

* Increase the PR in senior high school (SHS) from 79.7% to 85%.

B. Quality

* Increase the mean National Achievement Test (NAT) score in reading for Grade 6 learners from 263 to 270

* Increase the mean NAT score in mathematics for Grade 6 learners from 258 to 265.

* Increase the mean NAT score in science for Grade 6 learners from 261 to 268.

* Increase the percentage of SHS graduates who pass the UPCAT from 40% to 50%.

* Increase the percentage of SHS graduates who pass the NMAT from 30% to 40%.

C. Values

* Increase the percentage of students who demonstrate good values, such as honesty, integrity, and a sense of social justice from 85% to 90%.

* Decrease the percentage of students who engage in violent behaviour from 10% to 5%

* Decrease the percentage of students who use drugs or alcohol from 5% to 2%.

* Increase the percentage of students who participate in community service from 30% to 40%.

D. Governance

* Increase the rate of submission of School Improvement Plans (SIPs) from 95% to 100%

* Increase the rate of approval of SIPs from 90% to 95%.

* Increase the percentage of schools that are accredited by PAASCU from 5% to 10%

* Increase the percentage of schools that are certified as child-friendly from 20% to 30%.
