Display the rules. Passengers cannot follow specific rules unless they are aware of them. Having a sign in an easily visible area, such as the front of the bus, will ensure that everyone knows about the no-talking regulations.
Seek assistance, if available. As a driver, enforcing the rules and paying attention to the road can become overwhelming. In this case, enlisting the help of another adult, such as a teacher's aide, can lighten the responsibility. Additionally, the aide can devote her focus specifically on enforcing the no-talking rule, and any other applicable regulations. Check with your school or board administrators to determine whether this is a feasible option.
Take action. Students will not refrain from talking if there are no consequences. If a student repeatedly violates the no-talking rule, report the incident to the principal, superintendent or any other party in accordance with your employer's regulations.
Apply consequences. If a student fails to comply with the no-talking rule, despite multiple warnings or disciplinary action, you have the right to suspend him from riding the bus. However, do not do this without going through the appropriate channels, as per school regulations.
