What is the special title of honor for Japanese teachers?

There isn't one single special title of honor specifically for *all* Japanese teachers. The way teachers are addressed depends heavily on context, including the age of the teacher, the setting (school, private tutoring, etc.), and the relationship between the speaker and the teacher.

While you might hear terms like 先生 (sensei), this translates to "teacher" or "master" and is a respectful title used for many professionals, including doctors, professors, and other experts, not just teachers. It's the most common and appropriate general term of respect.

There's no equivalent to, say, "Professor" that's universally applied to all teachers in Japan.
