In Bangladesh the principals of government and non-government educational institutions are not gazetted officers. Usually heads of educational institutions like secondary schools, colleges and universities are called 'Principal'. According to the government order principals or headmasters of public and private educational institutions remain out of the gazetted officer range.
This is because, in Bangladesh, gazetted officers are those government officials who are appointed, promoted, and transferred, by or with the approval of the President. The government order regarding the classification and categorizing of government employees, however, does not reflect educational institutions principals as gazetted officers.
