National Geographic has interactive cross-cultural activities for approximately 40 countries on its website. Students can learn about a number of countries, ranging from Argentina to China and even Vietnam. Each country has a set of activities provided. Videos, maps, facts, photos and E-cards with postcard images of the countries are available. A wide assortment of cross-cultural games are provided on this site, including "Brain Teaser" and "Quiz Your Noodle." National Geographic also has cultural lesson plans for teachers which can be found by searching specific cultures or the generic "culture" in the search engine on site.
Hello-World's website offers language lessons in: Bulgarian, Latvian, Russian, Indonesian, Mandarin, Hebrew, Italian, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, English, Guarani and Vietnamese. Tutorials, worksheets and games are offered for letters, numbers, words, phrases and dialogues in all the languages on site. Hello-World also offers a free printable board game for several of the countries, as well as interactive cultural songs, games and flashcards with colorful graphics.
Discovery Education hosts over 500 social studies lesson plans for cultures and places ranging from Ecuador to Scotland, China, the Arctic, Portugal and South Africa. Lesson plans come with learning objectives and educational videos and activities in a printer friendly, PDF format. Discovery Education also has a "Puzzlemaker" on site, which allows users to create crossword, word search and other word puzzles from various countries.
Students can learn about world issues such as hunger, economics, food distribution and agriculture by interacting with a World Meal lesson. Basic meals from lower income, middle and upper income countries are created to foster discussions about cross-cultural foods and economic issues.
