In some states, children may seek work while still attending high school, while in others they must first obtain permission from the school or the state.
In most cases, children who are 16 or 17 years old may drop out of high school to work full-time, as long as they meet certain other requirements, such as having a job offer or being enrolled in a vocational training program.
In some states, students who are 14 or 15 years old may also be allowed to drop out if they meet specific criteria.
