However, as long as the child or adult child continues to live in their parent’s home, they are bound by the rules of that household. Therefore, unless the parent has previously relinquished such authority, a minor or legally adult child, while residing with their parent, is to remain under their legal control and subject to the reasonable constraints of the parent or legal guardian.
So as long as the child or adult child is living with their parents, the parents have the right to set rules for the household, including when and how their children use the home, and under what conditions they may remain there.
