Whitings Hill Primary School is above average, according to Ofsted. In their most recent inspection in 2022 they graded the school as 'Good'.
Ofsted's findings included that:
- The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the previous inspection. Leaders have a clear vision and high expectations for all pupils. They are ambitious for pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and pupils who are disadvantaged.
- Pupils’ behaviour in lessons and around the school is good. Pupils enjoy school, and they understand the importance of being kind to each other. They cooperate well together in lessons, and they take turns to use resources.
- Pupils achieve well in reading and writing at the end of Year 2, in line with national averages.
- The curriculum is well-sequenced and builds on pupils’ knowledge progressively in reading, writing and maths.
- Relationships between adults and pupils are consistently positive and caring. There is a strong ethos of respect in the school, and staff demonstrate high expectations of pupils’ conduct and attitudes towards learning.
- Reading and writing are a high priority in the school. The new early reading scheme is well structured, and it has been successful in helping pupils to develop their reading skills. Phonics is taught effectively in the early years and Key Stage 1.
- The teaching of calculation and problem-solving in maths is effective. Pupils recall number facts quickly, and they develop their fluency in arithmetic. Problem-solving is taught effectively, and pupils are able to apply their mathematical knowledge to solve problems.
