Was Rydell High School in the film Grease named for Bobby Rydell?

Yes, Rydell High School in the film Grease was named for the American rock and roll singer Bobby Rydell. Originally named Vincent Forrest Lydell, Bobby Rydell was a Philadelphia native who found success in the late 1950s and early 1960s with hits such as "Wild One", "Volare" and "Swingin' School". When the film's director, Randal Kleiser, was scouting locations for the movie, he came across Rydell High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Noting the connection between the name of the school and the famous singer, Kleiser chose to use the school as a filming location and decided to keep the name Rydell High in honor of the singer.
