What is an example of elegy?

An elegy is a poem or song that expresses grief or sorrow for the death of a person. Here is an example of an elegy:

In Memoriam A.H.H.

O young Mariner,

You have reached your final harbour.

The sea that knew you wild and strong

Now holds you, peaceful, in its arms.

Your sails are furled,

Your anchor cast.

Your journey's end has come

So soon, so tragically.

We who loved you

Mourn your loss.

We cannot bear to let you go,

But we know you are at peace.

May you sail on,

In the vast ocean of eternity,

Forever free and happy.

You will always be remembered

In our hearts and minds,

A shining light that never fades.

Rest in peace,

Dear friend.

Until we meet again.
